About the Organizers:
The Department of Science and Technology of
the Republic of South Africa strives towards introducing measures
that put science and technology to work to make an impact on growth and
development in a sustainable manner, in areas that matter to all the people
of South Africa.
This includes focused interventions, networking and acting as a catalyst
for change in terms of both productive components of our economy, making
it competitive in a globally competitive liberalised environment, and
also in respect of the huge development backlog existing among the poorest
components of our society. The goal of realising this vision is underpinned
by development and resourcing strategies for the formation of science,
engineering and technology human capital, democratisation of state and
society, promotion of an information society and ensuring environmental
sustainability in development programmes.
Cientifica has been organizing the World Nano-Economic Congress
since its initial event in Washington, DC in September 2003 and the following
events in London, Munich, Singapore, and Dublin. Cientifica is the world's
largest supplier of nanotechnology information, with activities spanning
from basic research, through scientific networks to consultancy, business
intelligence and investment appraisals. Cientifica is in constant contact
with thousands of scientists, businesses and investors active in the nanotechnology

About
the The World Nano-Economic Congress:
The World Nano-Economic Congress (WNEC) events have established themselves
as comprehensive meetings that bring together the thought leaders in science,
government, and business to discuss the entire value chain of nanotechnology's
commercial development. With Nobel Prize winners, former world leaders,
high-ranking government officials, and board members of Fortune 100 companies
on its speaker faculty, the WNEC has moved the discussion of nanotechnology
from a few nanotechnology evangelists and researchers to those who shape
policy and economic initiatives. This is accomplished by a multidisciplinary
approach of business and technology represented by a world class programme
which includes high-level speakers from science, government and industry:
· Multinational technology companies from electronics, chemical
and pharmaceutical and biotech industries
· Research/Academic Institutions
· Nanomaterials Companies
· Government Regulatory Bodies
· Consumer Organizations
For nanotechnology to succeed it has to make money and there is no better
forum to get a clear roadmap on how this will be accomplished and what
nanotechnology's impact will be on various industries than the WNEC.
Who Should Attend:
The WNEC is intended to for the entire value chain of those who are commercializing
nanotechnology. To give you a sense of who attends WNEC events, here is
